The internet has done it again. This time: a peanut butter iced latte.
As a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup person, I was already on board before taking a sip. But does it actually work as a coffee drink — or is it just a Reese's cup with ice?
Let's find out.
What You Need
1 shot of espresso
1 scoop of peanut butter
Milk of choice
Ice
A KeepCup Cold Cup — the clear ones show the layers best.
How to Make It
1. Melt the peanut butter into the espresso
Pull your shot directly over the peanut butter and stir while it's hot. It melts down into a smooth, nutty concentrate. Don't skip this step — cold peanut butter just sits there.
2. Swirl peanut butter inside the cup
Is it necessary? No. Does it look good? Yes. A couple of swirls up the inside of the Cold Cup before you build the drink earns its place on the grid.
3. Build the drink
Fill the cup with ice. Pour in cold milk to about two thirds. Top with the peanut butter espresso. Watch it sink.
4. Sip
Creamy, nutty, cold, and caffeinated. The peanut butter rounds out the bitterness of the espresso in a way that shouldn't work as well as it does.
The Verdict
Worth the hype. It tastes like a Reese's cup that woke up and got serious about coffee. Make it once and it's in the rotation. Cold Cup Longplay — tempered glass so every layer is visible from the outside. The peanut butter swirl, the milk, the espresso settling in. Drink worth looking at before you drink it.
